Total Launches The ‘Startupper Of The Year By Total’ Challenge In Uganda
Kampala, November 12, 2015
Total Uganda Limited has launched the ‘Startupper of the year by Total’ challenge initiated by the Total Group in 34 African countries on November 3, 2015.
This contest aims at identifying, rewarding and accompanying the best projects in enterprise creation or development (less than 2-years old) in Uganda. The winning projects will earn the ‘Startupper of the year 2016 by Total’ label, with financial support of upto 130,000,000 UGX and mentorship from Total Uganda.
This call for applications is free and open to any Ugandan Citizen, below 35 years of age.
The application process started on November 1, 2015 (8.00 AM GMT) and is directly available on the dedicated website: http://startupper.total.com/. Deadline for applications is January 31, 2016 (11.00 PM GMT).
A jury of professionals will preselect up to ten of the best projects in Uganda based on the following criteria: Innovation, originality, how daring a project is, development potential and capacity to improve the living conditions of the masses.
The finalists’ list will be published on the website by February 28, 2016.
After which, the candidates will pitch and present to their projects and ideas to the jury by March 15, 2016, the jury will then select up to three of the best projects and these will emerge as winners of the challenge.

The ‘Startupper of the year by Total’ challenge is part of Total’s global initiative of supporting the socioeconomic development of all the countries where it operates worldwide. It is a very concrete action launched to locally contribute to the reinforcement of the industrial fabric and to employment on the African continent, by supporting the most daring and innovative entrepreneurs in realizing their ambitions. This approach targets the emergence of new initiatives, while respecting the Total Group values.
